The Play Works Journey...

Play Works is an OFSTED registered Out of School Club and Pre-school which was founded in 2004 by Karl and Angie Frankland and has been a successful child care provider in the area of Urmston since its establishment.

The building was originally Arthurs Gym before becoming Play Works in 2004. The building was first the county library.

September 2023 saw the retirement of Karl and Angie after the 19 years and introduced Regan as the new owner of the setting with every intention of continuing the outstanding levels of care and education whilst introducing new elements to the service that Play Works provides.

As parents ourselves we are aware of how difficult it is to find the right setting in which to leave your children, we do all we can to ensure the children in our care have a great time and genuinely enjoy being at Play Works whilst providing peace of mind for parents and carers alike.

We have a fantastic team of highly qualified staff who thoroughly enjoy spending time with your children and enhancing their learning; and they are dedicated to creating new and exciting games and activities a long with a friendly and fun environment.

The children can choose from a wide variety of activities however, whatever they decide to do, the emphasis is always on having FUN!

Play Works boasts two outdoor play areas. One is covered in artificial grass and the other is a hard surfacing offering a broad range of outdoor pursuits where children can really let off steam in the fresh air.

The location of the club allows us to make considerable use of the local parks and Urmston meadows which offer the opportunity for more challenging, physical games and activities. We also arrange trips to museums, parks and places of interests during our holiday clubs.

We actively promote health awareness and encourage children to make healthy choices.

We ensure children get plenty of opportunity for exercise and promote healthy eating by providing a varied menu of healthy snacks.

Our commitment to being healthy has been acknowledged by Trafford MBC. We are being presented with the Trafford Healthy club awards for both healthy eating and for promoting physical play.

Meet the Team!

Meet Regan

Manager - Regan

Growing up in the area and attending Davyhulme Primary and Flixton Girls High I am excited to be supporting the local community!

In my spare time I am usually with my husband and 2 children and my beautiful dog Belle. We love theme parks and adventure days out and my friends and family will tell you I have a little obsession with Disney.

My favourite part of being part of Play Works are the people. From the amazing team who keep us running to a high standard to the wonderful children and parents who continue to help Play Works grow!

Meet Manda

Assistant Manager - Amanda

As well as being Play Works Assistant Manager I am also the Early Years Professional (EYP) and Communication Champion for the Pre-school and also the settings Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

I joined the Play Works family back in 2005 and have loved being a part of the team ever since. Seeing the smiles on the children's faces as they learn, grow and most importantly have lots of fun!

When I am not at work I enjoy nothing more than a good book and a cup of tea, the children will tell you I am obsessed with pandas.

Meet Tracy

Play Worker - Tracy

I have been a part of the Play Works team for over 11 years and I am also the settings Health and Safety officer.

Working at Play Works is not just a job to me its about being part of a family; providing children with a caring and nurturing environment for them to grow, learn and play!

When not in work I love being with my 3 children and going on long walks with our dog in the countryside.

Meet Adele

Play Worker - Adele

I have worked at Play Works for over 5 years and before starting I operated as a childminder in Urmston for 13 years, so I have lots of experience working with children of all ages.

I live with my husband and two grown up children (not forgetting Bella the dog) and have lived in Urmston my whole life.

I love being a part of the Play Works family!

Play Worker - Denise

I have been at Play Works for a short time but already love being with such wonderful children. I work with the After School Club children and enjoy hearing about their adventures at school and being a part of their activities whilst they are having FUN!
